I have been in four Laurel productions, including The Crucible, Into the Woods, Clue, and the Laurel Summer Shakespeare show As You Like It. Beyond theatre, I enjoy taking voice lessons and am a member of the school a cappella group Bad in Plaid, as well as the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus, and I also participate in speech and debate. Outside of these activities, I love reading, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family. Thank you to my mom, who drove me home almost every night, and to the rest of my family, who put up with my theatrical antics.
Seussical is my ninth Laurel production, following shows like Matilda, The Crucible, As You Like It, and Clue. I have been doing theater since I was 6 years old, and I greatly enjoy being onstage. I love the theatrical process because it allows for connections between grade levels and the shared joy of doing something fun. I also love it because it allows me to be in fun situations that most people otherwise wouldn’t be in. When I’m not onstage, I participate in Model UN, Poetry Club, Just Write, and more. I would like to thank my mom and mimi for doing the majority of driving me to and from practice.
Seussical is my first Laurel production and the first production I’ve done since elementary school. I have loved watching theater since I was very young, whether it’s a first grade Wizard of Oz production or Hamilton on Broadway. Seussical has reminded me of the feeling that made me love theater when I was little. Additionally, my fourth birthday party was Lorax themed, so this is a very full-circle role. Off stage, I am a member of Laurel's JustWrite, cross country, and track teams. I love writing, traveling, and collecting obscure facts. I would like to thank my parents for driving me, my siblings for their patience when I sing at dinner, and Mimi for not-so-subtly encouraging me to join.
Seussical marks my seventh Laurel production following highlights like Once Upon a Mattress, The Crucible, and Clue! I have been doing theater since I was around 7 years old, and have loved watching shows since even before that. I have met some of my best friends through Laurel productions, and I am incredibly grateful that I get to share the stage with them! When not onstage, I can probably be found baking, reading, or rewatching a TV show for the millionth time. I would like to thank my friends and family for always being so supportive, and my exceptional cast, crew, and directors who have all made this experience so special. And thank you, lovely audience member, for supporting the arts at Laurel!
Seussical is my first Laurel production, and the first show I’ve ever participated in. I sing in our school’s choir, which pushed me far out of my comfort zone. Just in the past year, my passion for music started to grow. On stage, I have the ability to be an entirely different person, and I believe that having the ability to do that makes me a more well-rounded person, as my eyes are opened to new perspectives. Off-stage, I play piano and guitar, have a blog in the making, and I participate in speech and debate because I LOVE to speak, whether it be at a tournament or things I'm passionate about. I’d like to thank my parents for giving me the resources to learn more about music and instruments, and my friends for teaching me more about those things and supporting me even when I fail.
Seussical is my second Laurel production following Matilda. I’ve always enjoyed theater since I was a little kid, seeing shows like Hairspray, RENT, and more made me fall in love with theater. At Laurel, I’ve gotten opportunities to participate in theater through dance classes, acting classes, and participating in productions.
Sarah Dingeldein ‘27: The Grinch
Seussical is my sixth Laurel production, following Clue, The Crucible, Peter and the Starcatcher, and more! I love theater because it pushes me out of my comfort zone, lets me spend time with friends I don’t get to see often, and introduces me to new people. Onstage, I get to take risks and experience things I wouldn’t try or do in my everyday life. In addition to theater, I am a competitive rock climber and spend a lot of my time at Shaker Rocks. I also enjoy playing piano and guitar, reading, and spending time with my friends. I’d like to thank my family, family, and dog for supporting me endlessly!
Indi Dobbs '29: JoJo
Seussical is my first Laurel production and I’m thrilled to be a part of this show! I’ve previously been in Footloose, Into the Woods, The Wizard of Oz and so many more! I’ve been doing musical theater since the age of four and deeply love being onstage. I love the theatrical process because I get to become someone/something else. While onstage and during the rehearsal process I am challenged to think and develop into another person, which I think is so interesting and fun. Outside of theater, I am a dancer and spend three days out of the week at Cleveland City Dance. I would like to thank my mom for driving me to and from practice everyday.
Lucy Dolzine '27: Bird Girl 1
This production of Seussical will be my sixth show in the Upper School, but I have been acting since grade 5. I have thoroughly enjoyed each production, but some of my favorites include The Crucible (Elizabeth Proctor) and Matilda (Ms. Phelps). I have also worked with directors at University School, Heights Youth Theater, and Dobama Theater. The theater has always been a way to express myself and hear about fascinating stories of each character that I have played. When not on stage, I like to write, read, paint, thrift, spend time with my family, and plan side quests with my friends. My favorite Dr. Seuss book is Wacky Wednesday. I would like to thank the wonderful creative team for bringing this goofy group of people to life and making sure we can still giggle through it all. And the sincerest thanks to my cast mates who have allowed this show to shine.
Ruby Floyd '28: Sour Kangaroo
Seussical is my third Laurel production following Annie! and Project Brave, and I have been acting since I was in 4th grade. Theater is my greatest passion, and it is my favorite extra curricular activity that I participate in. Some of my favorite roles that I have had the honor of playing were Ariel in Footloose! at Heights Youth Theater, Lydia in Beetlejuice Jr. at Cain Park, and Fiona in Shrek Jr. at University School. Off of the stage I enjoy playing varsity Lacrosse at Laurel and outside of school, playing the guitar, and spending time with my family (+ my dog) and friends. I want to thank Mr. Sumlin for being such an amazing director and pushing me to go out of my comfort zone and become the best performer I can be. I also want to thank Mr. McDaniel and Mrs. Sector for their hard work and for making me a better performer. And special thanks to my castmates, family, friends, and my voice coach (Helen Todd) for being so supportive of me throughout this process. I hope you enjoy Seussical!
Taryn Goedecke ‘28: General Gengus Khan Schmitz
Seussical is my first theater performance, but I always love to watch them with my family. We have seen Wicked, Wizard of Oz, Annie, and more at Playhouse Square, and I have always been captivated by the riveting experience that musicals drag me into. Now doing a musical for Laurel, I can love parts of the process I couldn’t before: like blocking, costumes, and connecting with others who share a similar passion. Learning about the inside workings of a show, I have so much more appreciation and admiration for this art. Outside of theatre, I enjoy playing the guitar, running cross country, playing softball, and participating in speech and debate. I would like to thank my parents for supporting me and my brother for asking me so many questions about my part in the musical.
Mari Herlein ‘28: Yertle the Turtle
Eryn Howery ‘28: Bird Girl 3
Seussical will be my seventh Laurel production following Clue, Into The Woods, Matilda and others. I find my voice when on stage and I’ve found that acting has shaped me to be more enthusiastic and confident. The 2025-26 year has especially expanded the character choices I make and my overall joy when onstage. I love showing directors how strong of an actress I can be and learning dances with cast mates. Offstage I love singing in choir, watching short series and listening to music. When traveling, literally anywhere, I take pictures of meaningful landscapes, miscellaneous objects, and my golden doodle, Sammy. I want to thank my mom and dad for dealing with me as well as my siblings' hectic schedules, as well as the directors and all the casts I have worked with over the years that have made me come back to the theater and acting time and time again, and thank you for showing up.
Darryn Huggins ‘28: Vlad Vladikoff
I've been in two Laurel Productions so far, Seussical being my second and my first being the Project: Brave, and I was in The Lion King a couple of years ago; other than that, I'm pretty new to the theater world. Even though I have not been doing theater for a long time, I really do enjoy it; I enjoy being able to transform into a different character, and I really enjoy dancing, singing, and performing. When I'm not on stage, I'm usually doing one of my four Sports (Golf, track, basketball, volleyball), spending time with family and especially my dogs, or playing Roblox. I'd like to thank my mom and dad for transporting me to and from practice, I like to thank the cast and crew for helping me learn more about theater, and I'd like to thank everyone who's coming to see the show, because your support means the world.
Kareen Hurns ‘27: Stage Manager
Lyla Levin ‘28: Gertrude McFuzz
I am so excited to be back on the Laurel stage for this incredible production! Seussical is my second Laurel Production, following last year’s musical, Into The Woods (Jack). Prior to coming to Laurel, I have been participating in musical theater since Kindergarten, with some of my favorite shows including Mary Poppins (Jane) at Heights Youth Theater, Bye Bye Birdie (Ursula) at Heights Youth Theater, Little Shop Of Horrors (Audrey) at my old school, and many others. Theater has always been such a great expressive outlet where I can take on the role of a character on stage while also creating amazing friendships and experiences off the stage. When not performing, I love to play volleyball, play piano and guitar, travel, and spend time with my family and friends. I’d like to thank Mr. Sumlin and Mr. McDaniel, the whole production team, and the wonderful cast for making this show such a great experience and for putting together this remarkable show. And thank you to my family and friends who have never stopped supporting me! Enjoy the show!
Allie Murray ‘28: Wickersham Brother 1
Seussical is my fifth production at Laurel, following Laurel’s Summer Shakespeare Plays, Into the Woods, and Clue. I have been doing theatre since I was 11 and have been in other productions like The Little Mermaid, Willy Wonka, and many more. I have always loved to act and transform into a different character, and give a compelling performance for the viewer to enjoy. Offstage, I love to do speech and debate, and talk about issues I’m really passionate about, as well as express my emotions about anything whether that is doing a speech in a random classroom or a monologue on stage. I also love to read, draw, run, speedskate, and hang out with friends when I have some downtime. I want to thank my family and friends for allowing me to be dramatic even when it might have been too much at times. As well as the cast and crew for making this such a fun show to be on. Along with you, the audience for watching and supporting Seussical!
Isabelle Nicol ‘28: Mayor
I started performing when I was 7 in a youth show choir and I have performed in both school and outside choirs almost every year since then. I started performing in musical productions last year in Laurel’s Into The Woods. I’ve always loved singing and have lots of fun dancing and moving while singing as opposed to standing in one spot for the entirety of my choir concerts. Additionally, I like all the components that go into theater such as the costumes and all the preparation as well as the cast and crew who are a joy to spend afterschool with. Outside of theater, I sing, play viola, and I am interested in science. I would like to thank my parents for giving my rides to and from rehearsal after long days and my castmates for putting up with my tomfoolery.
Mimi Raja ‘29: Thing 1
Seussical is my first production with Laurel School and I am so excited to be in this show! Previously I have performed in Newsies, Into the Woods, Shrek, and so many others! I have been doing musical theatre for 4+ years and I fell in love with musical theatre as a little kid watching so many broadway productions and dreaming that one day that could be me. I love the theatrical process because you become a part of a community and get to build a show that is so different from any other production of it because you and your community get to make it your own. I love performing and playing a character that tells a story for an audience to immerse themselves in and I just love the art so deeply. Offstage, I love hanging out with my friends, which is where you can commonly find me, and doing sports, including cross country and lacrosse. I’d like to thank all of my friends for supporting me and always coming to my shows, Finley, for doing the show with me, and my family for supporting me in my theatre journey and driving me to and from practice, specifically when I inform them of my necessity of Starbucks five minutes before we have to leave.
August Sumlin ‘27: Mayze La Bird
Seussical is my fifth Laurel production, but I’ve acting and singing since I was young. I’ve previously been Baker’s Wife in Into The Wood, Ann Putnam in The Crucible, Crew in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Crew in Matilda, and Ted in Peter and the Starcatcher. I started my theatre journey at the Marilyn Bianchi Playwriting Festival at Dobama at age seven. I learned how to sing at age three, and haven’t stopped since. Theatre is one of my great joys, especially here at Laurel. The people, the experience, and the commitment are unlike anything I’ve ever seen at a school, and I am so grateful to be a part of it. I would like to thank this truly incredible cast and crew for allowing me to feel free without judgment. I have loved working, learning, and laughing with every one of you. Thank you to Mr. Sumlin, Mr. McDaniel, and Mrs. Sector for manning the ship, and my friends and family for enduring my constant ranting and raving about the show. Thank you for coming, and please, enjoy the magic of Seuss!
Sofia Teresinski ‘26: Bird Girl 2
Seussical is my fourth show at Laurel after The Crucible, Into The Woods, and Clue. Being in Laurel Theatre has thoroughly changed my life, introducing me to some of my bestest friends and giving me the chance to find greater confidence. When I’m not working on Suessical I am easily distracted by watching movies, shopping, hanging out with my dogs, or taking a nap! Though this is my last year at Laurel and while I am sad to go I am happy to discover new opportunities.
Abby Vasu ‘28: Wickersham Brother 2
Seussical is my first production since middle school, and I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of this show. Performing has been a big part of my life (often through singing and dancing). I’ve loved theater all my life, especially musicals. I have always been fascinated by how performers are able to transform on stage, and that’s something I’ve really enjoyed exploring in this production. Onstage, I’ve had so much fun developing my character, working with blocking, and collaborating with such a wonderful cast. Outside of theater, I enjoy spending time with my friends, playing golf, reading, and participating in Speech and Debate. I want to thank Mr. Sumlin for being such a wonderful director, Mr. McDaniel for always encouraging me throughout this process, and Mrs. Sector for all her hard work and support through the entire production. I’m also incredibly grateful for my family for their endless support (and for driving me home from rehearsal every day – I love you guys!). Finally, thank you to my friends both onstage and offstage for always cheering me on.
